2nd Annual Alumni Golf Tournament
|
|
Monday, February 5, 2007
The 2nd Annual Iota Psi Alumni Golf Tournament has been set for
Sunday, April 29th at Mountain Aire Golf Club. The active brothers would like to
invite everyone to Boone for the weekend for an alumni dinner followed by the golf
tournament the next morning. Everyone who played last year had a great time. Due to the decline in
the number of older alumni at homecoming, it was great to see some of those faces
out and about again. We would like to see many more of you as well, the goal is
to have at least 72 players this year.
We are also currently looking for any companies that might like to sponsor a hole
for the event, please contact Jeff Fissel or Chad Wainwright with any opportunities.
The active brotherhood is also in the process of putting together a dinner/reception
the night before the tournament and sponsorships are available for tables in conjunction
with hole sponsorships.
Please visit www.tournevents.com/pike
for the latest information about the tournament. There's contact information, maps,
directions, the course map, and you can also sign up yourself or your team.
If you have any questions or comments, please contact Jeff Fissel or Chad Wainwright.
Jeff did an excellent job setting this tournament up last year. It can only get
better this year.
Please mark the weekend of April 28th & 29th on your calendars and SPREAD THE WORD!
Announcements have been sent out, via e-mail, but many do not check their e-mail
or their address is out-of-date. Also, keep checking www.tournevents.com/pike and
www.appstatepikes.com for the latest information.

Friday, June 16, 2006
Many thanks to all who attended the Alumni Golf Tournament on Sunday,
April 30th. The turnout was great and much fun was had by all. In the
case of some alumni, that attended Blue Hawaiian the day before, there was too much
fun.
The overall winning team was the foursome of Scotty Snyder, Allie Woods, Ben Hudson
and Bryan Taylor. The longest drive was won by James Broyhill. Scotty Snyder won
the closest to the pin contest. And, the "Best Effort" award went to the
foursome of Justin Rutledge, Matt Rutledge, Michael Wilfong and Bret Harlen.
Thanks again to all who participated. Keep an ear out for future alumni golf tournaments
as the current brotherhood is looking to continue the success they accomplished
with this tournament.

Update on Brother Serving in Iraq |
|
July 26, 2004

Recently, Sharla Harvey (Kemp Harvey's wife) sent
out an e-mail informing friends of Kemp's progress serving in Iraq.
Two days before Sharla's letter was sent out, Kemp's camp was hit
by 20-40 mortars killing two soldiers. Kemp was not hurt and
neither were some of his closest friends. Their tents were
burned down and their camp was destroyed, leaving them homeless.
Sharla speaks with Kemp via instant messenger and on the phone occasionally.
He is due home September 15th.
Sharla mentioned that Kemp was featured in an article for his hometown
of Thomasville, NC. Click HERE to read that
article.

Larissa Chooses Gil! |
|
March 2, 2004

On the series finale of Average Joe 2: Hawaii, Larissa
looked Gil in the eyes and told him that he intrigued her and that
she had strong feelings for him. She questioned, however,
whether he was ready to "take things to the next level." She
played it off like she was cutting Gil loose, but ultimately, she
asked him to go with her on the exotic vacation!
Larissa and Gil jetted off to Cabo San Lucas, where they finally
got to spend some time together away from the pressure of the show.
Things became ugly when Larissa revealed to Gil that she use to
date a semi-celebrity, Fabio. Gil stormed off down the beach
in a huff. It seemed as if things were over & Larissa was
upset that she had turned away lots of great guys and now she was
the one being dismissed.

An interview on the Today show on Tuesday, March 2nd, revealed that
they are still together and are trying to make things work.
Congratulations to Gil and we hope that things do work out.

New
Fraternal Law article |
| November 25, 2002
Fraternity houses located in residential neighborhoods have long
been lightning rods for controversy. In the past two decades,
several communities have enacted restrictive zoning ordinances in
response to fraternities irritating their neighbors. One community,
however, has taken more drastic action: The city of Long Beach,
California recently obtained an injunction against the activities
of the Sigma Pi fraternity chapter located at California State University
at Long Beach, alleging that the fraternity constitutes a "public
nuisance."
